What is Dermaroller?

Dermaroller Southend-on-Sea

Dermaroller (also called skin rollers, micro-needle rollers, dry needling and derma roller) is a micro-needling treatment designed to significantly improve the appearance of skin imperfections.

Dermaroller in Southend at JR Medical is an extremely effective treatment for the reduction of fine lines. wrinkles and pore size and the collagen stimulation also improves skin texture, as well as improving the appearance of acne scars.

It is a safe and minimally invasive technique adapted from, but not the same as, acupuncture where thin needles penetrate trigger points just underneath the skin. During the dry needling process, a needle is taken to an area of the skin to trigger skin regeneration. Once the skin is broken, triggers are sent for it to begin healing.

The process stimulates collagen and elastin production for plumper, more radiant skin. "By creating small areas of injury, it jumpstarts the skin's repair cycle, inducing collagen and elastin synthesis. As well as boosting radiance, it also makes your skincare work harder.

Both Dermaroller and Dry Needling in Essex have gained popularity in recent years due to their effectiveness.

Who Would Benefit from Dermaroller Treatment?

Dermarollers can be used to treat a range of skin conditions or skin imperfections, including sun-damaged skin, dry skin, weak skin, ageing skin, hyperpigmentation and acne scarring as well as stretch marks.

In addition to the many benefits which dermaroller treatments offer, dermaroller treatment can be performed on the scalp in order to help combat and reverse the effects of hair loss.

If you are a male or a female experiencing thinning hair, baldness or alopecia, thicker hair can be achieved by using dermaroller. The dermaroller works by creating temporary “channels” in the skin, during which hair loss medication is typically applied.

A dermaroller treatment should not be performed on an open wound or skin blemish.

What Does a Dermaroller Treatment Include?

The Genuine Dermaroller Therapy treatment involves a topical numbing cream to be applied to the treated area 1 hour before the treatment.  Once numb rolling a micro-medical roller on the skin in order to stimulate the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely. As a result, you will have brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin.

When the dermaroller is rolled over the skin, tiny needles puncture the skin. These “ injuries” lead to superficial bleeding which triggers a natural healing response. The skin forms new blood vessels and produces more collagen.

The process continues over the course of months, resulting in natural enhancement over time as your skin naturally repairs and regenerates, from beneath, by forming new collagen and generating new skin cells.

How Many Dermaroller Treatments Do I Need?

For Collagen Induction Therapy we recommend starting with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 6 to 8 weeks between treatments. For Scar Reduction Therapy an average of 3 to 5 treatments are recommended, with an improvement of 70-80%. Unlike ablative procedures for facial skin only, the Dermaroller can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc).

It may take a few weeks to see any visible effects so do not expect immediate results. The process continues over the following months, resulting in natural enhancement over time as your skin naturally repairs and regenerates from beneath by forming new collagen and generating new skin cells.

Are There Any Side-Effects to Dermaroller Treatment?

Dermaroller treatment requires no downtime, with very short recovery times when compared to laser treatments. It may, however, take a few weeks to see any visible effects so do not expect immediate results.

Dermaroller treatments are long-lasting, but they do not stop the skin from ageing. They simply repair the existing condition of the skin, but will not prevent new lines from forming.

Genuine Dermaroller or Dermapen dry needling therapy can only be performed by trained medical practitioners to a certain needle depth.
