Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels (or Acid Peels) are solutions which are used to soften or ablate the top layer of the skin in order to achieve a smooth, clear appearance and texture. Therefore, Chemical Peels can help to remove or soften the effects of sun damage, acne scarring or age related or premature fine lines and wrinkles. It can even help with treatment of active acne.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

A chemical peel is applied to the face of the client by a trained medical professional. It is then left for a varying amount of time according to the practitioners assessment, before being removed. Then, depending on the sort of peel being used (Alpha Hydroxy Acids a.k.a AHA, Glycolic Peel, Fruit Acid or TCA), the dead skin would either peel off and shed dramatically or improve gradually. As the skin heals, it regenerates new tissues resulting in smoother and less wrinkled skin.

As chemical peels remove the outermost layers of the skin, most commonly facial skin, it can reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes.
